History
Around 350 BCE, Lamponeia was a small but strategically positioned city in the Troad region, located on the slopes of Mount Ida in what is now northwestern Turkey. Its elevated position provided defensive advantages and oversight of the plains and coastlines below, allowing control over vital agricultural land and trade routes. Though it didn’t rival the influence of nearby cities like Assos or Alexandreia Troas, Lamponeia held a distinct identity and degree of autonomy within the broader region.
